Xilinx established an R & D, Engineering, Manufacturing and Service facility in Dublin in 1994, which currently employs over 200 people in the design, production and distribution of logic devices for all markets outside the United States. In addition to this Dublin provides customer service, information technology and human resource support to all Xilinx European operations
Situation
Xilinx Ireland had a requirement for a system to monitor and record temperature and humidity levels, UPS power, gas discharges, liquid leak detection and voltage surges in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in CityWest, Dublin. A major requirement of the system was to be able to warn facilities engineers of any problems via Pager, Email and SMS. Integration with 3rd party leak and gas detection systems, fire detection systems, air conditioning units and UPSs was also required.
Solution
Measuresoft, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, proposed and installed a SCADA solution based on its ScadaPro product running on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform. The system was configured to acquire data from a Datascan network interfacing with Vaisala Temperature and Humidity probes. Data was also acquired from the 3rd party systems via the Datascan network.
Xilinx Ireland now has a facility monitoring system that:
Calculates and logs Temperature and Humidity levels throughout the plant.
Provides alarms for any power outs, gas or liquid leaks etc.
Annunciates alarms to Email, SMS, Pagers, and Speakers.
Produces meaningful trend information and reports on a daily and weekly basis.
Provides an archive of results for traceability and quality purposes.
Rangeland Meats now have an machine monitoring system
which:
- Captures data at high speed to monitor the
alignment of the forming machine plate.
- Calculates run-time of each machine.
- Calculates number of stops and duration of faults
and allows the operator to enter fault codes.
- Produces meaningful trend information and reports.
- A report of line stoppages each day is generated
automatically.
- Provides archive of production results for
tracability purposes.
- Directly exports data into Lotus 123 so that it can
be manually filtered using a tool familiar to the user.
